Logging Body
After being cut, trees can either be transported in log lengths or three lengths. For the log lengths, a logging body flatbed truck may be used. These may be towed by a straight truck, which often has a loader mounted on the rear for self-loading. These logging body flatbed trucks have fixed middle beam and side support posts which are specifically designed for carrying logs.
Flatbed Body
The flatbed truck is the most common type of trailer in use and includes a towable truck with a flat body and no sides or roof. Flatbed trucks can carry large or oddly-shaped loads that may not fit into other types of transportation that have enclosed cargo areas. Flatbed trucks are also much easier to load and unload than other types of cargo vehicles, because cranes or other types of loading equipment may be used.
Step Deck Trucks
Step-deck trucks are built closer to the ground than a standard flatbed. This feature allows tall cargo to be transported without the need for special permits. Like standard flatbed trucks, step deck trucks also have an open format with no sides or roof, allowing ease of loading and unloading.
Stake Bed
Stake bed flatbed trucks consist of a flatbed truck with removable stakes or posts that fit into joists attached to the bed. These stakes allow stake bed flatbed trucks to be used to haul oddly-shaped or large cargo, as the stakes can be removed for loading then attached before transportation to ensure the cargo stays in place.
Hyundai
Hyundai Translead is the leading manufacturer of dry and refrigerated van trailers, flatbeds, chassis, and dollies in North America. All of the structural steel components in their HT flatbeds are hot-dip galvanized to protect against the elements, use high-tensile steel with weight-saving holes, and are available in 48’ and 53’ options. Hyundai flatbeds provide versatility, value, and durability for the long haul.
Vanguard
Vanguard National Trailer Corporation offers flatbed trucks and trailers in both lightweight steel VSF and fully aluminum models. Both sport an 80,000 lbs distributed frame rating, with the aluminum weighing 8,700 lbs and the lightweight steel VSF model weighing 10,700 lbs. Both measure 48 ft and include premium performance features that provide valuable operational savings and years of trouble-free performance.
Freightliner
Freightliner is, without a doubt, at the top of the list when it comes to manufacturing efficient flatbed trucks. The torque power of the engine is excellent and the cab interior is designed to provide enough comfort for the driver. When it comes to functionality, Freightliner has several flatbed trucks with different modifications for the best performance.
