Tandem Axle Tractor
Slightly different from the standard tractor, a tandem axle has a second axle and set of wheels located directly behind (tandem to) the front axle and wheels. By having an additional axle and set of wheels, tandem axle tractors can haul heavier loads than a single axle. The second set of tires also provides a smoother ride and increased shock absorption, but also adds weight and reduces fuel efficiency.
Single Axle Tractor
There are only the standard two sets of wheels and one axle on a single axle tractor, making them lighter and more maneuverable than the tandem axle. As a tradeoff, they are also more fuel-efficient, saving you money on long-haul trips where every gallon of fuel matters.
Sleeper Cab Tractor
Sleeper cab tractors can increase both time and cost efficiency, as they have a sleeper cab attached to the cabin. The driver can use this sleeper cab to pull over and rest on long-haul trips, rather than needing to find a hotel for every night of a long trip. Some sleeper cabs even come with restrooms and other amenities, making for a very comfortable driving experience. Sleeper cab tractors are typically used for long-haul trips but can be used for daily hauling and deliveries as well.
Freightliner
As one of the most popular tractor brands on the planet, Freightliner has built up an excellent reputation over the decades they have been in business. Manufacturing high-quality tractors that are known for both powerful, fuel-efficient engines and a great driver experience has made Freightliner extremely well-regarded among drivers and tractor enthusiasts alike.
Volvo
Volvo has the second-highest sales of any tractor manufacturer in the world, a testament to their engineering and customer-focused design. Volvo has always been known for safety and efficiency across all of its vehicles since the company began in 1928. Volvo tractors are known to provide both a comfortable drive for the driver and a powerful, fuel-efficient engine for the tractor.
International
Another global tractor manufacturing company, International tractors are known worldwide for an unbeatable track record of producing a great product. A leading manufacturer of trucks and tractors of all duty and cargo types, International trucks are some of the best that a driver could ask for. Many of International’s tractor models, like the LT series, provide options to include either Cummins or International-brand engines. The International Lonestar tractor has a unique aerodynamic design that provides optimum fuel efficiency, along with International brand quality and reliability.
Mack
The Mack brand of tractors may be the most recognizable brand in the world by both drivers and non-drivers. Owned by the same parent company like Volvo, Mack trucks are always associated with toughness and dependability, but non-Mack owners may not know that their technological innovations are also an important part of the company’s popularity with truckers. The Mack powertrain was born through a relentless dedication to building trucks that could haul heavy loads while withstanding the brutal mileage of long-haul trips. Mack trucks are also highly customizable, meaning you may have many different choices for options when you choose to rent a Mack tractor on the COOP app!
