Double Drops
The transportation industry has regulations for maximum height because of the clearances for bridges and tunnels around the country. Double drop flatbeds are also known as lowboy trailers and have a high deck at the front and rear which creates a lower well in the middle to carry especially tall cargo. Typically available in lengths from 24 ft to 29.6 ft, a standard double drop trailer can carry up to 40,000 lbs.
Extendable Double Drop
When your cargo load calls for a double drop flatbed but needs more length than the standard models will carry, the extendable double drop flatbeds may be just what you need. These flatbeds can be extended to lengths of 29 ft to 50 ft and have a greater maximum load than the standard versions, making them a great option to carry especially tall and heavy equipment, machinery, or industrial goods.
Step Decks
Easy to pick out because of the decks that these flatbeds have, a step-deck is a flatbed truck that has both an upper and a lower deck. Also used to carry loads that are extremely tall and cannot be hauled on standard flatbeds because of transportation height restrictions, step decks come in lengths from 48 ft to 53 ft and can be used to carry freight that weighs up to 48,000 lbs.
Great Dane
When hauling especially large, heavy or specialized equipment you want to be able to rest assured that the trailer you are using is strong enough to facilitate the cargo and not break down. As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of dry, refrigerated, and flatbed trailers, Great Dane provides peace of mind in knowing their products are engineered with the quality to handle any load. Founded in Savannah, Georgia in 1900, the long history of Great Dane gives you the trust that their equipment can handle any cargo you need to haul.
Hyundai
Flatbed trailers are unique in that their entire body and frame are exposed to the elements. Unlike dry vans or other enclosed trailers, flatbeds have to be built tough enough to survive every single piece of their frame being exposed to heat, cold, wind, sun, snow, or rain. Hyundai Translead has engineered a special hot dip steel galvanizing process to ensure their HT and other model flatbeds can withstand these rigors of travel. With the strength of structural steel and protection of galvanized components, this company that has been in the manufacturing and engineering business since 1947 builds flatbed trailers that can withstand nearly any test or cargo that you throw at them.
Utility
Just like the old man of the neighborhood who young people ask for advice, as the oldest manufacturer of flatbed trailers in the United States, Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company has acquired the wisdom over their years to learn the best way to manufacture trailers that stand the test of time. Wisdom is not enough to keep a company going, but with the quality and durability that their brand has become known for, Utility has grown to become the third-largest manufacturer of flatbed trailers as well. With the strength of steel but in the lightweight benefit of an all-aluminum body, their 4000 AE model trailer has found a way to outperform the normal weight and strength requirements that have eluded other manufacturers. Utility flatbed trailers are a great choice for your company if fuel and maintenance costs are something that you want to keep as low as possible.
Vanguard
Long-term quality and resilience are important aspects to have in a flatbed trailer manufacturer, and both of those qualities are what the Vanguard National Trailer Corporation has become known for. With their flatbed trucks being made available in either lightweight steel VSF or fully aluminum models, Vanguard flatbed trailers offer an 80,000 lbs distributed frame rating. With the same strength as the lightweight steel, the fully aluminum Vanguard flatbed trailer weighs in at 2,000 lbs less, which comes from a feat of engineering. Their models both come in 48 ft lengths and are known for their years of trouble-free performance and financial savings for their customers' operations.
Wabash
If fuel savings and weight efficiency are what your company is looking for, Transcraft by Wabash National may have the flatbed trailers made just for you. Wabash manufactures their flatbed trailers with efficiency in mind, removing weight where it is not needed to maintain strength where it is. Building their flatbed trailers for durability, flexibility, fuel efficiency, and uptime, flatbed trailers by Wabash will keep your loads moving with higher efficiency and less downtime than other companies.
